Richard C. Jackson, age 80, of Sugar Grove, Ohio, passed away May 1, 2021 at Pickering House, Lancaster, Ohio.
Richard was born January 21, 1941 in Sugar Grove, Ohio to Richard W. and Fannie Jackson. He retired from the Army after 25 years and then worked for Buckeye Steel for almost 15 years. While in the Army, Richard Faught in the Vietnam War and earned a Silver Star Medal.
Surviving are his daughter, Regina (Elwood) Smith of Laurelville; son, Keith (Val) Jackson; daughter-in-law, Tracy Jackson; and sister, Margie (John) Funk of Logan; sisters-in-law, Nancy Reynolds, Judy Ailes, and Susan Thornton; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephew, and cousins.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Jane Jackson; parents, Richard W. and Fannie Jackson; son, Kevin Jackson; brother, Bobbie Jackson; and stepmother, Gladys Jackson.
Calling hours were observed from 4:00 pm to time of service.
Funeral services were held at 8:00 P.M., on Sunday May 9, 2021 at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio with Rev. Diora Edgell officiating. Veteran Services were held at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Rockbridge, Ohio at a later date.
