Richard C. Spencer Jr., age 79, of Logan, Ohio, passed away July 22, 2024, at his residence, after a lengthy illness.
Dick was born Jan 8, 1945 in Athens Ohio to Richard C. Spencer Sr. and Edna Hickman Spencer.
A lifelong resident of Hocking County, Dick was a graduate of Logan High School, Class of 1962; was a member of the Ohio National Guard; and worked for Ohio Oil Gathering and Southeastern Natural gas. Motorcycle riding and off-road competition was a part of Dick’s life. He was a founding member of Hocking Valley Motorcycle Club; loved living on the family farm, making hay and taking care of his cows; and also loved deer hunting.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Cheryl (Burgess) Spencer; children, Chance (Tracy) Spencer, Teri Spencer (Sean Champ), and William Patterson; and grandchildren, Dylan Mellinger, Taryne Spencer, and Cy Spencer.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Richard C. Spencer Sr and Edna Spencer.
The celebration of life was the calling hours that were observed on Saturday July 27, 2024, from 4 to 8 pm and Sunday, July 28, 2024, from 4 to 8 pm at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan. Ohio. The Hocking County Honor Guard provided a Military Honor Service on Sunday at the funeral home.
