Richard Douglas Nihizer, age 83, of Logan, Ohio, passed away March 23, 2025, at the Embassy of Logan, Logan, Ohio.
Richard was born August 1, 1941, in Logan, Ohio to the late Clarence R. Nihizer and Wilma Bond Nihizer.
Surviving are his wife of 17 years, Sharon “Mays” Nihizer; son, Bryan Nihizer of Logan; stepdaughter, Amanda (Joe) Gortney; granddaughters, Traci (Eric) Miller and Shaira (Dennis) Berry; two step grandsons; five great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two nephews; and several cousins.
Richard previously worked for Logan Clay, Lockheed aircraft Corp., Chieftain Express, Kentucky Drilling, Quaker State Oil Drilling, City of Logan Water Plant and Street Dept. he retired in 2003.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bobby Lee Nihizer.
Richard will truly be missed by his friends and family, especially his early morning McDonalds breakfast club, and all of his sunny days porch buddies
Funeral services were held at 1 pm Thursday March 27, 2025, at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio with Rev. Dr. Randy Hardman officiating. Burial was in Knollwood Cemetery, Logan, Ohio.
Calling hours were observed 11 am – 1 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
