Ricky L. Burns

Ricky Lee Burns, unexpectedly left this world and woke up in the arms of Jesus on May 10, 2023. He was a devoted husband, father and friend.

Ricky was born March 19, 1960, in Logan, Ohio to Claude R. Burns and Beatrice Oldfield Burns. He graduated from Logan High School in 1978. He then pursued higher education and attained his associate degree in forestry from Hocking College in 1980. On June 29, 1991, he married the love of his life, Ruby. Together they built a family, and both gained employment through the Logan Hocking School District. Rick was proud of and enjoyed his 15 years at the schools. He was a member of the Salt Creek Valley Church. He spent most of his free time outdoors and always kept busy. He found pride in his garden and took the time to share whatever he had grown with others.                              

Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Ruby “Harper” Burns; daughters, Rikki (Zack) Hively, Rylei Burns, Tessla Burns and his borrowed daughter, Randi Danner; one special nephew, Bobby (Micaela) Burns; and great-niece, Bonnie Burns. Rick was a family man and loved his family, as well as his pets. He leaves behind his beloved family as well as his pets and his beloved dog, Daisy.

Ricky was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leonard Burns; and sisters, Barbara McGrath, Janet Looman, and Charlotte Brewster.

Funeral services were held at 1 pm Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio with Pastor Jim Vandagrif officiating. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery, near South Bloomingville.

Calling hours were observed 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Tuesday and 12-1pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
