Robert L. VanBibber Jr., age 73, of Nelsonville, Ohio, passed away April 26, 2024, at his residence.
Robert was born February 27, 1951, in Nelsonville to Ralph Wollett and Lavonia McCombs Wollett. He was a 1969 graduate of Nelsonville-York High School; served two tours in Vietnam in his 20 years of service with the US Marine Corps; member of the American Legion Post 229 in Nelsonville; member of the AMVETS 0076 in Athens; and served 13 years as pastor of the Connett United Methodist Church near Nelsonville.
Surviving are his wife of 48 1/2 years, Kathleen VanBibber; children, Robert VanBibber III (Jennifer Arms) of Logan, Katrina (Scott) Nunnally of Nelsonville, and Joshua (Brittney) VanBibber of Nelsonville; grandchildren, Chandler Arms, Mackenzie VanBibber, Jensen VanBibber, Knox VanBibber, and Crew VanBibber; great-grandchild, Abel Arms; siblings, Linda Klinebriel of Nelsonville, Brenda Anderson of Glouster, John Wollett of Nelsonville, and Dwight Wollett of Nelsonville; his best friend, John Fletcher; and his church family at the Connett United Methodist Church.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday May 2, 2024, at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, Ohio with Pastor Sheryl Rawlings officiating.
Calling hours will be 5 – 8 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Military service will be done by The US Marine Corps, and the Combined Color Guard prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
