Sherian Elaine Smith, age 74, of Gallipolis, Ohio (formerly of Logan, Ohio and Milford, Kansas) went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her daughter, granddaughter, sister and brother-in-law on March 15, 2024, at Lakin State Hospital, West Columbia, West Virginia.
Born on May 16, 1949, in Middlesboro, Kentucky. Sherian was the daughter of the late Pryor and Althea Davis. On June 29, 1976, she married Billy Smith who proceeded her in death on October 12, 2017. Sherian worked for many years at Logan Health Care Center in Logan, Ohio as the Supervisor of Laundry and the Activities director before retirement. She was a 1967 graduate of Willow Run High School in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Sherian loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved collecting coffee cups and birdhouses.
Sherian is survived by her daughters, Christina Cook of Gallipolis, Ohio and Maryjo Storts of Lancaster, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Ronda Jackson of Kansas; grandchildren, Billy (Heather) Smith, Kala Horn, Kassey Jones, T.J. (Ashley) Cook, Marinda Cook, Nikolas Hutton and Cory Jones; great-grandchildren, Dixie, Aubrey, Kinsley, Carson, Kadan, Trevor, Kohen, Baylee, and Chayse; brother, Alan (Mary) Davis of Michigan; sisters, Ruth Ann (Dan) Kormash of Texas and Patty Miller of Athens. Sherian is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Sherian was preceded in death by her parents, Pryor and Althea Davis; husband, Billy Smith (2017); son, Mike Smith (2018); son, Mark Jackson (2019); brother, Stevan Davis (2017); and grandson, Nathan Hutton (2010).
Services were held on Friday March 22, 2024, at Elizabeth Chapel Church, 55 Locust St. in Gallipolis, Ohio. Calling hours were observed from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. with the funeral service at 4:00 P.M.
Graveside service and burial were held on Saturday March 23, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in Knollwood Cemetery, Logan, Ohio. Pastor Randy Carnes officiated the services.
Arrangements were by the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio.
