Shirley Mae Whitlatch, age 81, of The Plains, Ohio, went to be with the love of her life on October 18, 2024, at her home.
Shirley was born March 26, 1943, in Marrietta, Ohio to Forest McCloud and Mary Carpenter. She was a member of the Masonic Order of the Eastern Star. Shirley enjoyed painting, watching the news, and playing cards on her handheld games. Bill Clinton was her president for life. Shirley lived a long and eventful life till the end and will be dearly missed by her beloved family.
Surviving are her children, Tammy (Thomas) Armstrong and Robin (Jerry McDonald) Whitlatch; 7 grandchildren, Beth Ann (Billy) Rutter, Dirk Newsom, Heather (Tom) Armstrong, Katie (Seth Hutchison) Wallace, Dustin Newsom, Tré (Whittney) Wallace, and Amber (Jesse) Dowler; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; brother, Jimmy Edgar; sister, Judy Keir; many nieces and nephews; cat, Lola; dogs, Gracie and Zoey; and numerous friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her loving spouse of 36 years, Billie Whitlatch; father, Forest McCloud; mother, Mary Bowman; stepfather, Floyd Bowman; 7 sisters; 4 brothers; son-in-law, Bobby Newsom; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Shannon James and Kathy Essman.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM, Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home in Nelsonville, Ohio, with Pastor Dave Shoemaker officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, Ohio.
Calling hours were observed 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the funeral home prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the funeral home to help with final arrangements.
