Tamela “Tammy” Chesser, 55, of Chauncey passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio due to complications from an extended illness. Her beautiful soul was bon in Nelsonville, Ohio on November 29, 1960. She is the beautiful daughter of Gilbert “Gib” (Pam Kempton) Phillips and Barbara (Floyd) Riffle. Tammy graduated from Athens High School in 1979; and retired from the Athens Mental Health Center, where she had been employed for 23 years. She took great pride in being an avid member of the AFSME Union. Tammy’s funny wit, caring heart and bold laughter will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 36 years, Paul Chesser; son, Zachary (fiancé Ashley) Chesser; and loyal and loving pet, Tanner. She is survived by her parents; twin sister, Pam ( Jimmy) Blair; brother, Gib Jr. (Jane) Phillips; sister, Tracie Blair; step-sister, Anna Starling; step-brothers, Robert Riffle and Fredrick Riffle; mother-in-law, Mary Graham; brothers-in-law, Butch Chesser, Tony Chesser, and Jimmy Graham; niece, Amy (Donnie) Tinkham; nephews, Josh Phillips, Jaycee Blair, and Kyle and Klayton Chesser; and great-nieces, Kylie and Kara Tinkham. Tammy was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Wilbert Perry and Margaret Bolin; paternal grandparents, Oakey and Margaretta Phillips; and her father-in-law, Paul Chesser II. Graveside services were held Monday, August 8, 2016 at 12:00 noon at Hilltop Cemetery in Millfield, Ohio with Rev. Gary Alton officiating. Arrangements were made by Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, Ohio.
