Tammy Jo Sullivan, 60, of Nelsonville, Ohio, passed away on August 2, 2023, surrounded by her friends and family.
Born on June 29, 1963, in Poughkeepsie, NY, Tammy was a beloved Hospice Nurse for over 20 years. She was a hardworking and kind-hearted individual who was deeply loved by her family, friends, patients, and coworkers
Tammy was survived by her son, Ryan P. Sullivan of Nelsonville; her daughter, Darcie Ann M. Lewis (Victor) of Nelsonville; and her cherished grandchildren, Rowan, Ember, and Ethan. She was also survived by her mother, Carol Mohammad; her mother-in-law, Patty Sullivan; her brothers, Mark Empert, Donnie Empert Jr. (Michelle), and Jeremy Empert; her sisters, Donna Curtis (Lyle), and Kellie Empert; and her brother-in-law, Danny Sullivan (Angie).
Tammy was preceded in death by her father, Donald Empert Sr.; her grandmother, Rosie; her father-in-law, Frank Sullivan Sr.; and her beloved dog, Brutus.
Tammy attended Poughkeepsie High School and furthered her education at Hocking College. Additionally, she served in the Air force from 1984 to 1988. In her free time, Tammy enjoyed spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Her vacations were spent at the beach, indulging in the tranquility that the waves provided.
But it was in the realm of compassion and healing that Tammy’s true essence found its home. For over two decades, she donned the mantle of a Hospice Nurse, a vocation that allowed her to touch countless lives with tenderness and solace. In the sacred space where life meets its twilight, Tammy’s presence brought warmth and comfort, her heart overflowing with empathy and kindness.
A graveside service, conducted by Pastor Dave Shoemaker, was held at Whitmore Cemetery in Buchtel, Ohio on August 15, 2023, at 11:00 am. Following the service, there was a dinner at the Buchtel United Methodist Church. Tammy’s military service in the Air force was honored with a military service conducted by the Combined Color Guard, reflecting her dedication to serving her country.
Tammy Jo Sullivan will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and dedication. May she rest in peace.
