Thomas L. Cullison

Thomas L. Cullison, age 82, of Nelsonville, Ohio, surrounded by his loved ones, peacefully entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 12, 2024, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Born on January 25, 1942, in Connett, Ohio, he was the son of Elza and Sarah Sturgill Cullison. He was a graduate of Buchtel York High School. 

A dedicated family man, Tom was a loving husband to his wife, Clara Joan “Jody” Cullison, for 38 years. He was a proud father to his children, Jim “Chip” (Gina) Lee Jr., Sondra (Patrick) Young, Cindy (John) Russell, and James Cullison. 

Tom’s heart swelled with joy as he cherished the company of his grandchildren: Amy Pierce, Tiffany Downey, Amanda (Mark) Smelser, Jim (Heather) Lee, Cheyne Lee, Jamie Kline, Jennifer (Drake) Bennett, Sarah (Kristie) Cullison, John (Misty) Riffle, Angel Riffle, Lindsey Tinsley, Patrick (Nina) Young, Nicole Robinette, Amanda Russell, Kendra Stump, Shawn Stump, Kimberly Stump, Jesse Cullison, his many great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Tom is also survived by his son-in-law, Randy Abram and sister-in-law, Catherine Cullison. 

A Veteran of the United States Air Force, Tom served his country with honor. After his military service, he found fulfillment in his work as a Nelsonville Senior Patrolman, and later as a driver for Central Ohio Transit Authority, from which he retired. He concluded his career working part-time at SEPTA. A man of diverse interests, Tom was a passionate CB and Ham radio enthusiast, known to many as “Little Leroy” and “Buckeye Skipper 174,” respectively. He was also very passionate about anyone touching the knobs on his radios.  

Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jody; son, Tom Hull; daughter, Joyce Lee Abram; grandson, Jason C. Lee; granddaughter, Misty Lee; great-granddaughter, Ayla Todarello; and brothers, Herb Hunt, Paul, Fred, Ralph, and John Cullison.

Tom was a man of deep faith and unwavering belief in the promise of eternal life. His love for Jesus Christ was evident in his daily life and inspired those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who know him.

Funeral services were held at 7 P.M. on Monday, August 19, 2024, at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home in Nelsonville, Ohio, with Pastor Christofer Smith officiating.  A Military Honors Service will be held at the beginning of the services.

Calling hours were observed from 5:30 to 7 P.M. on Monday, August 19, 2024, at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at a later date in Wolfe Cemetery, Haydenville, Ohio.
