Thomas “Thom” Worden Russell, 63 of Logan, Ohio passed into the arms of his Grandma Russell and his Heavenly Father on June 18, 2018, at Logan Care and Rehabilitation, Logan, Ohio. He was born August 16, 1954, at Sheltering Arms Hospital (now known as O’Bleness Hospital), Athens, Ohio to Worden A. and Alberta M. (Rosser) Russell. Thom’s early years were spent in Athens, New Marshfield, Nelsonville, and Haydenville before settling in Logan, Ohio with his family. Thom attended Kindergarten at Waterloo Local School in New Marshfield, Ohio. He graduated from Logan High School in 1972. Thom enlisted in the U. S. Air Force following in his father’s footsteps. During the Korean Conflict his father served in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Suwon & Seoul, Korea. After Thom’s honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force, he returned home to Logan. He worked at Metal Powder Corporation in Logan until his retirement several years ago. Thom is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Kymmi Anne (Victor) Amato of Fort Wayne, IN, and Marsha Lynn (Anil) Lakhani of Nashville, TN; the children’s mother, Angie Russell, Nashville, TN; mother, Alberta M. Russell, of Logan, OH; brothers, David Ray Russell, Trotwood, OH, Jeffrey Alan and sister-in-law (Melissa Lanning) Russell; sisters, Brenda Leigh Russell, Logan, OH, and Kelly Sue (Gary) Barkhurst, McConnelsville, OH; granddaughters, Phoenix Victoria and Mia Lynn Amato, Fort Wayne, IN; and his many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his aunts, Rose Russell Eschelbacher, Nelsonville, OH, Helen (Rosser) Brown, McConnelsville, OH, and Evelyn (Rosser) Tavan, Reynoldsburg, OH. He will be greatly missed by his dear friend’s Stu Weller of Lebanon, TN. and Ron Koch of Rockbridge, OH. Thom was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rebecca S. (Canter) Russell; father, Worden A. Russell; grandparents, Harry Alva and Dorothy Mae (Allen) Russell and Floyd Reynold and Bessie Evelyn (Taylor) Rosser. A special Thank You to his Hospice Team from FairHoPe Hospice, Lancaster, Ohio and his nurses and aides at Logan Care and Rehabilitation, Logan, OH. Arrangements were with Warren-Brown Funeral Home Nelsonville, Ohio. Interment was in the New Marshfield Cemetery, New Marshfield, Ohio. Graveside services were conducted, with a 21 Gun Military Salute, on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice.
