Virginia Mae Alvis, age 83, of Nelsonville, Ohio, passed away October 30, 2024, at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster, Ohio.
Ginny was born March 25, 1941, in Nelsonville, Ohio to Clifford and Gladys Jones. Ginny loved her slot machines, wine, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She worked for the Elks 543 in Nelsonville for 35 years and was known for her Ginnizzims. Ginny was a sweetheart that never raised her voice and will be deeply missed by her beloved family and community.
Surviving are mother, Gladys Opal Jones; children, Dave (Heather Shonk) Alvis, Jack (Jodi) Alvis, Lori (Marvin) Campbell, Mark Alvis, Clifford Alvis, and Dreama McKelvey; daughters-in-laws, Patty Alvis, Kelly Avis, and Jacquelyn Alvis; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; many friends from the Elks; and hairdresser, Wilma.
Ginny was preceded in death by her husband, James Hobert Alvis II; father, Clifford Darrell Jones; son, James Alvis III; grandson, Brian Campbell; granddaughter, Jasmine McKelvey; and great-granddaughter, MaKell Jade Alvis.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, November 3, 2024, at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home of Nelsonville, Ohio, with her granddaughter, Pastor Brooklyn Lindsey officiating. A private burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery. Nelsonville, Ohio.
Calling hours were observed from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 3, 2024, prior to the service.
