Walter George Lineback, age 81, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away June 22. 2023, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.
Walt was born April 18, 1942, in Nelsonville, Ohio to Oliver Lineback and Grace LaFollette Lineback. He was a 1960 graduate of Nelsonville High School; served in the US Army in Viet Nam 1964-1966; attended Ohio University; earned a master’s degree from the University of Dayton; was a retired engineer for AT&T Telecommunications; and was a member of the Nelsonville VFW.
Surviving are wife, Linda Barrows Lineback; children, Angie (Charley) Southwould of Anchorage, Alaska, Steve (Becky) Lineback of Canal Winchester, Ohio, and Aimee (Russ) Holloway of Groveport, Ohio; grandchildren, Syri Southwould, Vala Southwould, Kasen Lineback, Derrick Holloway, and Tony Holloway; brother, Chuck (Sandy) Lienbach of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Marlene (Larry) Cottrill of Cincinnati, Ohio; and sisters-in-law, Carol Kumpe, and Judy Gumm.
Walt was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Paul Southwould; parents-in-law, Floyd and Mildred Barrows; brothers, Gene and Bob Lineback; brothers-in-law, Bob Kumpe, and Arlen Gumm; and sister-in-law, Susan Lineback.
Funeral services and Military services were held at 2:00 P.M., Friday June 30, 2023, at the Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home, 650 W. Waterloo St. Canal Winchester, Ohio with Andrew Hoover officiating.
Calling hours were observed 4-7 pm, Thursday, June 29, 2023, and 1-2 pm Friday, June 30, 2023, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Walt’s memory to the Nelsonville High School Alumni Scholarship Fund “Class of 1960”, P.O. Box 472, Nelsonville, Ohio 45764.
