Jody Lee Moore, of Glouster, Ohio passed away January 23, 2019 at home peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Jody fought a courageous battle with breast cancer since May of 2000. Through it all she never lost her faith or her ability to make people laugh as she was an inspiration to many who knew her.
Jody was born April 26, 1960 in Nelsonville, Ohio to Bob and Marjorie Bentley. She was a 1978 graduate of Nelsonville-York High School; attended Hocking College; and she was a member of the Ohio Education Association and S.E. Ohio Breast Cancer Survivor’s Network. She attended the Wesleyan Church of Nelsonville; managed her residential cleaning service; and worked at Hocking College as a custodial staff member.
Surviving are her husband Kevin Moore; her daughter Lacey Whitlatch of Athens; children, Derrek Whitlatch of Chicago, Jordan Whitlatch of The Plains, Jaime Whitlatch of Logan, Mason Moore and Mackenzie Moore of Glouster; her grandson Tristan Judy, the light of her life; siblings, Tom (Annette) Bentley, Storm (Tammie) Bentley, Susie Phillips all of Nelsonville, Sandy (Tom) Taggart of Buchtel, and Christy Conkey of Pickerington; mother-in-law Teresa (Bill) Koon of Glouster; father-in-law Johnny (Patty) Moore of Jacksontown; brothers-in-law, Mike (Krista) Moore of Glouster and Scott (Paul) Moore of Florida; and her best friend Karen Knece of Lancaster.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Bill Whitlatch; daughter Ashley Fenley; brother-in-law John Phillips; and loving pet Shady Lane.
A Celebration of Life was held at 11:00 am on January 28, 2019 at Warren-Brown Funeral Home in Nelsonville, Ohio with Rev. Mike Thomas officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery Nelsonville, Ohio.
Calling hours were observed January 27, 2019 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
