John Lawrence Monroe Jr., 72, Nelsonville, Ohio, passed away January 10, 2018 at Grant Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio. John was born on August 5, 1945 in Columbus, Ohio, to John Lawrence and Goldie Monroe. He was an outdoorsman; loved fishing; and was well known for his appliance business. Surviving are his son George (Tracey) Monroe of Nelsonville; daughter Linda Monroe of Nelsonville; grandchildren, Kayla, Christopher, Patricia, John, and Steven; great-grandchildren, David, Xavier, and Eli; siblings, Frank, Ace, Larry, Susie, and Martha; and fiancé Carol Glenn. He was loved by all. John was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Letha Gay Monroe, who passed away 2012; and 3 month old son, John Kermit Monroe. Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, Ohio. Burial was in New Marshfield Cemetery, New Marshfield, Ohio. Calling hours were observed Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 12:00 Noon to time of service.
