Mary Alice Bowers, age 92, of The Plains, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2023, with family by her side at The Laurels of Kettering in Kettering, Ohio.
Mary was born November 13, 1930, in Perry County, Ohio to George E. and Cora E. Miller. Mary loved cooking, being outdoors, gardening, and watching birds. She liked to listen to various music artists, especially Daniel O’Donnell and Hank Williams. She also used to send care packages and various treats to her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Surviving are children, Deborah (John) Nichols and Tamara Friihauf; grandchildren, Melissa (Brad) Bruno and Lauren Nichols; four great-grandchildren, Damien Nichols-Bruno, Kyla Mary Nichols-Bruno, Ace Nichols-Arnett, and Jameson Lycans; many nieces, nephews, and extended family; as well as her close neighbors.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, John William Bowers; parents, George and Cora Miller; brothers, Homer (Mona) Miller, Elmer (Doris) Miller, ShermanMiller, Jesse Miller, and Carl Miller; and sisters, Myrtle (Bill) Amos, Dorothy (John) Wolfe, Clara (Eugene) Markham, and Nellie (Harry) Bowlby.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday October 14, 2023, at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, Ohio with Pastor Andy Stine officiating. The burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, Ohio.
Calling hours were observed from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Friday October 13, 2023, and from 10:00-11:00 A.M. on Saturday October 14, 2023, before the service.
