Rev. Albert Edwards Jr., age 90, of Rockbridge, Ohio, passed away February 23, 2022, at his residence.
Albert was born November 13, 1931, in Hocking County to Albert M. and Lillian Edwards.
He started a custom butcher shop, Edwards Meats, in October of 1963. The family business was relocated to its current location on St. Rt. 374 in 1967. After 50 years of operation, Albert transferred the business to his youngest son in 2013.
Albert started pastoring in 1969. He sold the original church building in 1976, and purchased ground on St. Rt. 93 N. to build a new church. It took two years to build. The congregation held their first service on Easter Sunday in 1978. Albert was the pastor of Heavenly View Tabernacle for 45 years.
Surviving are his sons, Dana (Cindy) Edwards of Rockbridge, Steve (Sharon) Edwards of Logan, Jim (Nancy) Edwards of Louisiana and Mike (Linda) Edwards of Rockbridge; 9 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna Edwards; son Darrel Edwards; brothers, Donald, Gary, and Earl Edwards; and sisters, Precious Wolfe, Norma Stump, and Connie Kerns.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm Monday, February 28, 2022, at The New Life Christian Center in Lancaster with Rev. Gary Keller officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Rockbridge, Ohio.
Calling hours were observed 11 am – 1 pm Monday at the church.
Arrangements were by the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio.
