Robert Leo Vasko, age 83, of Murray City, Ohio, passed away June 1, 2023, at his residence.
Bob was born August 16, 1939, in Murray City, Ohio to Johnny Vasko and Melda Boley Vasko. He was the Valedictorian of Murray City High Class of 1957; served in the US Marine Corps from 1957-1959; formerly worked at Carborundum in Logan; retired from The Ohio Department of Transportation; was an avid outdoorsman; loved spending time landscaping and manicuring his garden; member of the Murray City American Legion Post # 420; Member of Masonic Lodge #607; and member of Eagles Aerie # 1044.
Surviving are his daughters, Kathy Sue (Hanz) Hake, and Bobbie Sullivan; son, Joseph Vasko; significant other, Alberta Vasko and her family; many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Larry (Joan) Vasko, Nancy Sanborn, and Don (Roberta) Vasko; his best friend, Don Easterling; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judith (Judy) Vasko; son-in-law, Frank Sullivan Jr.; brother-in-law, James Sanborn; and sisters-in-law, Rosemary Vasko, Carolyn Crothers, and Rita Roe.
The family wishes to thank his caregivers, Alberta and Ryan Smith.
Mass of Christian burial was 10:00 am Monday, June 5, 2023, at the St. Mary of The Hills Catholic Church in Buchtel with Rev. Fr. Mark Moore. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, Ohio. Military services were conducted by the Combined Color Guard.
Calling hours were 2-4 & 6-8 pm Sunday, June 4, 2023, at the Brown Funeral Home in Murray City. A Masonic service was held at 7:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
