Clinton Dearth

Clinton Derrick Dearth, age 37, of Athens, Ohio passed January 18, 2024, at his home.

Clinton was born on January 1, 1987, in Athens, Ohio. He is the son of Dane and Teresa Witham of The Plains, Ohio.

Clinton served his country as a SeaBee in the U.S. Navy for six years, following high school. He deployed four times over seas working alongside Marines providing critical repairs on mission-essential equipment to support both Operation Iraqi and Enduring Freedom. Additionally, on two of his tours, he assisted in the evacuation of Lebanon as well as supporting maritime security by detaining pirates on the high seas. He transitioned from his role working on heavy equipment in the Navy to driving them as a civilian, utilizing his CDL on primarily long-haul routes.

He was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman with both magnets as well as sport fishing, card collector, movie buff, and the most generous man in Athens County. He always had his eyes open for someone down on their luck that he could brighten their day with a $100 bill or a ride when they were in need.

Clinton is survived by his daughter, Chloe Harmon; grandma, Mary Shover; parents, Dane and Teresa Witham; siblings, Robert (Cassie) Dearth and Nicole Westfall; and his nieces and nephews, Winston, Vivienne, Joel, and Arya.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sonny and Shirley Dearth, and Glen Shover.
