John Gail Metz, 65, of Nelsonville, Ohio passed away August 15, 2018 at his residence.
John was born June 26, 1953 in McArthur, Ohio to Robert Lynn and Neva Metz. John devoted his life to helping others; was active in the Athens area AA for over 30 years; and lived to ride his motorcycle with the wind in his hair. He was a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran.
Surviving are his son Robert Metz; adopted daughter Jodi Robbins; sisters, Judy (Bob E.) Metz and Mary (David) Kearney; brother Robert (Dolores) Metz; 1 granddaughter; 3 grandsons; nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephew.
John was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Elva Wise Metz, who passed away in 2009.
Military services were held by the Combined Color Guard at 4:00 pm, Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, Ohio.
