John “Red” Conley

John Edward “Red” Conley, 91, of Nelsonville, Ohio passed away January 10, 2018 at the VA Medical Center, Chillicothe, Ohio. John was born December 11, 1926 in Nelsonville, Ohio to John and Dora Belle Conley. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired from the U.S. Army after serving in the Korean Conflict. Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Hattie Ellen Conley; children, Sandy (David) Karr of Rolla, Missouri, Susan Karr of Pike Road, Alabama, John Wesley Conley of Devils Elbow, Missouri, and Charles (Mandy) Conley of St. Robert, Missouri; sister, Eileen Wright of Nelsonville; step-daughters, Janet Cradlebaugh of Fenton, Michigan, Joyce (Mike) Cagg of Nelsonville, and Mary Ellen Greene of Nelsonville; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Bryan Conley; sisters, Bonnie Williams, Nellie Spurlock, and Vesper Martin; and brothers, Richard, Earl, Mike, Raymond, and Ralph. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, Ohio with Rev. Garry Dickerson officiating. Burial was in Asbury Cemetery, Nelsonville, Ohio, where Military Graveside services were conducted by the Combined Color Guard. Calling hours were observed Tuesday January 16, 2018 from 11am till time of the service. Masonic services will held be at 12 noon on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the funeral home.
