Martha M. Grantham

Martha May Pergrin Howe Grantham, 90, of Nelsonville, Ohio passed away May 3, 2015 at her daughter’s residence in Columbus, Ohio, surrounded by all of her 7 seven loving children. Martha was born December 26, 1924 in Nelsonville, Ohio to Max V. and Doris Parks Pergrin. She was a 1942 graduate of Nelsonville High School; attended Ohio University; member of the Nelsonville Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post #3467; member and past President of the Nelsonville Emblem Club #97; and member of the First United Methodist Church in Nelsonville. Surviving are her 7 children, Jessica L. Hollenbaugh (Bob) of Poway, CA, William M. Howe Jr. of Amesville, Nancy E. Howe of Glouster, Philip W. Howe (Cheri) of Jackson, Marty Gail (Dick) of Abingdon, VA, Paula H. Fate (Allan) of Columbus and Nelson W. Howe of Nelsonville; 12 grandchildren, Amy, Andrew, Aaron (Melissa) and Ann Hollenbaugh, Billy Howe, Nancy Sue Christian, Courtney and Dylan Howe, Brian (Holly) Gail, Treavor and Patrick (Keri) Fate, and Allison (Carey) Fate Leonard; 13 great-grandchildren, Miles, Aubrianna and Marek Hollenbaugh, Makela, Miya and Malia Hollenbaugh, Jordan and Kamryn Gail, Kelsey Fate, Makenzie and Alek Fate, and Gavin and Amelia Leonard; sister, Jessie V. Pergrin of Tuscon, AZ; and brother, James B. Pergrin of Oxnard, CA.        Martha was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; first husband, William M. Howe Sr.; and 2 grandchildren, Lacey and Colin Howe. Mom’s passion for Euchre gave her great pleasure.  Her Euchre friends were very dear to her and she treasured each and everyone of them. But they all knew how serious the game was… “A card laid is a card played.”    Funeral services were held 7:00 pm Friday May 8, 2015 at the Warren Brown Funeral Home Nelsonville, Ohio with Rev. Ernie Perkins officiating. Graveside services were held Saturday at 11:00 am at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, Ohio.   Calling hours were observed Friday form 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home.          The family suggests donations be made to the Nelsonville Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post #3467 or to the Wexner Heritage Village, Zusman Hospice, 1151 College Ave. Columbus, Ohio 43209.
