Evelyn L. Rutter, age 88, of Athens, Ohio, passed away March 26, 2023, at her residence.
Evelyn was born November 10, 1934, in Peach Ridge, Ohio to Elza and Audrey Reed. Evelyn was a longtime member of the Freewill Baptist Church in The Plains and babysat kids for years.
Surviving are her daughter, Rita Rutter; sons, Bill (Brenda) Rutter, Roger Rutter, and Bobby Rutter; sisters, Josephine Green, Ethal (Joe) White, and Linda Shreves; 4 grandchildren, Tiffany (Jake) Wooten, Billy (Beth) Rutter, Roger (Missy) Rutter, and Lisa Rutter; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Rutter; brothers, Virgil Reed, Richard Reed, Harold Reed, Leon Reed, and Lee Reed; sister, Olive Lawless; daughter-in-law, Julie Rutter; and brother-in-law, Richard Shreves.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm Friday March 31, 2023, at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, Ohio with Pastor Don Harris officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, Ohio
Calling hours were observed from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday March 30, 2023, and 12:00 – 1:00 pm Friday March 31, 2023, at the funeral home.
