George Elwood Rucker, 84, of Nelsonville, Ohio passed away July 20, 2017 at his residence. George was born July 21, 1932 in Richwood, Ohio to George and Ruth Rucker. He retired from Ranco; lifetime member and officer of the IOOF; member and past- president of the local senior citizens association; member of the NRA; member of Ham Radio Association; and a fixture at Tammy’s Country Kitchen. Surviving are his wife, Bertha Rucker; children, Steve (Mindy) Rucker, Mary Jo (Jack) Yost, Gail Rucker, Lynn Everetts, and Janie Wood; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; special companion, Sammie; brothers, Jim (Evelyn) Rucker of Delaware, Ohio, Harold (Sandy) Rucker of Port Orange, Florida, and Dick (Abby) Rucker of Ostrander, Ohio; sisters, Mary Johnston of Croton, Ohio and Leona Webb of Delaware, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents; and granddaughter, Tara Everetts. Funeral services were held 1:00 pm Monday, July 24, 2017 at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home Nelsonville, Ohio with Chaplain Kermit Welfry officiating. Entombment was in Fairview Cemetery, Rockbridge, Ohio. Calling hours were observed Sunday, July 23, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
