Harold Shover

Harold Glen Shover 76, of Glouster, Ohio passed away December 12, 2015 at his residence. Harold was born March 13, 1939 in Hebbardsville, Ohio to Denver and Marie Shover. He was a US Army Veteran; retired carpenter; attended Nelsonville Holiness Church; his hobbies were cracking black walnuts, which he shared with family and friends, gardening, cooking, baking, traveling, sightseeing, visiting nursing homes, woodworking, and listening to thunderstorms from his cabin on the hill with a tin roof; and most of all giving to others. Surviving are his wife, Mary L. Shover of Glouster, married December 31, 1960; sons, Steven R. (Sheila) Shover of Fort Ritchey, FL, Gerry L. Shover of Glouster, Michael G. Shover of Glouster, and Christopher A. Shover of Glouster; daughters, Teresa A (Dane) Witham of The Plains, and Melissa L. (Rev. Jason) Fisher of Nelsonville; 18 grandchildren, including Robert W. (Cassie) Dearth, stationed San Diego Naval Station and Clinton D. Dearth of The Plains, who was Harold’s travel partner; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Slater of Glouster, and Janice Sutton of Glouster; and brothers, John (Linda) Shover of Philo, Ronnie (Sharon) Shover of Glouster, and Robert (Shirley) Shover of Corning. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; brother Denver L. Shover; and sister Shirley Tucker. Funeral services were held 6:00 pm Friday December 18, 2015 at the Brown Funeral Home Murray City, Ohio with his son, Steven R. Shover and son-in-law, Rev. Jason Fisher officiating. Military services were conducted following the funeral. Calling hours were observed Friday 2-6 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brown Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
