Barbara J. Oblinger, 86, of Nelsonville, Ohio passed away July 9, 2017 at The Laurels of Athens, Athens, Ohio. Barbara was born February 3, 1931 in Carbon Hill, Ohio to Fred and Helen Hawk. She was valedictorian of the Carbon Hill High School class of 1948; and member of the Carbon Hill United Methodist Church. Surviving are her daughters, Brenda (Donald) Koon of Carbon Hill and Beverly Stivison of Logan; grandchildren, Becky (Doug) Maccombs of Doanville, J.D. (Sabrina) Stivison of Logan, Billy (Erica) Warren of Athens, Michael Warren of Athens, and Mandi (Joey) Ward of Logan; 10 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Bill (Kathy) Oblinger of Toledo; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Helen Mohney of Nelsonville. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence “Pete” Oblinger; son-in-law, Rick Stivison; and brothers, Keith Hawk, and Neil Hawk. Funeral services were held 2:00 pm Thursday July 13, 2017 at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home Nelsonville, Ohio with Rev. Dr. Randy Hardman officiating. Burial was in Carbon Hill Cemetery, Carbon Hill, Ohio Calling hours were observed Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Carbon Hill United Methodist Church in Barbara’s memory.
