Beverly Jan (Brill) Parks

Beverly Jan (Brill) Parks, 85, passed away July 20, 2017 in Ft. Myers, FL. She was born January 10, 1932 to Herbert Emerson and Inez (Brittingham) Brill in Dayton, Ohio. She was raised in Dayton and attended Fairview High School. She graduated from The Ohio State University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. While at Ohio State Beverly met the love of her life, Robert Parks, and they married on September 13, 1952. After college, she lived in various communities in Michigan and Ohio, eventually settling in St. Louis, Missouri. After raising their 2 daughters in St. Louis, she retired to Ft. Myers, Florida. Beverly was a homemaker and her greatest joy was her family. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in each community in which they resided. She enjoyed needlepoint and embroidery and volunteered for several years at the Sign of the Arrow, a nonprofit needlepoint shop in St. Louis. She also played golf and bridge. She used her teaching degree teaching junior high school briefly in Lawton, OK, kindergarten in Owosso, MI., and then preschool for many years in St. Louis. Beverly is survived by her husband of nearly 65 years, Bob; daughters, Melinda (Rex) Homan of Albany, Missouri and Marie (Lee) Ostrander of Wheaton, Illinois; grandchildren, Kelly Homan of San Francisco, CA, Ben (Lisa) Homan of Leawood, KS., Clay (Caitlin) Ostrander of Santa Cruz, CA, Sarah Ostrander and Connor Ostrander of Wheaton, IL.; great grandsons, Wesley and Colin Homan; as well as many loving Parks family nieces and nephews. Services were held at 1:00 pm Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home in Nelsonville, Ohio. Interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery in Nelsonville, Ohio. Calling hours were held from 11 am to 1 pm at the funeral home on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Faith United Methodist Church, 15690 McGregor Blvd. Ft.
