Eldon
L. Smart, 79, of Nelsonville, Ohio passed away June 16, 2017 at 6:55pm,
at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster, Ohio, after a 1½ year battle
with cancer.
Eldon was born October 21, 1937 in Buchtel, Ohio to Elmer and Mabel
(Staten) Smart. He worked on cars most of his life; operated Smart’s
Garage in Nelsonville for several years; retired after 10 years from the
City of Nelsonville Water Department; and was member of the Nelsonville
Elks.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Joyce A. Smart; children, Kathy
Smart and her longtime friend Glen Robson, Ricky K. (Melyn) Smart, and
Christina Bradley; grandchildren, Jereme Harden, Lacie Jo (Harden) and
Yehreen Collins, Bryan Smart, and Teara Harpen; great-grandchildren,
Tristan, Bryleigh, Alyssa, Azariah, Austin, Aaron, Aamon, and Dontae;
brother, Robert Smart; sisters, Shirley McKnight, Yvonne Struble, and
Shane Smart; and many nieces and nephews.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Helen Pettit, Audra
Hoy, and a baby girl; a baby brother; grandson, Kyle Smart; and
great-grandson, Osias Collins
Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm Friday, June 23, 2017, at the
Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, Ohio with Dave Shoemaker
officiating. Burial was in Knollwood Cemetery, Logan, Ohio.
Calling hours were observed 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Thursday, June 22, 2017,
at the funeral home, with an Elks memorial service being held at 7:30
pm.
