Helen Margaret Smart, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 5, 2016. She made her home, the last five years of her life, at Hickory Creek of Athens, after 55 years in Buchtel, Ohio. Helen was born June21, 1930 to William (Bud) and Clara Johnson. She married her husband Melvin in 1947. She worked for Mt St Mary’s Hospital in Nelsonville as nurse aid, and as a Licensed Practical Nurse, but her favorite job was that of Mother to her son Melvin “Steve” Smart. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Melvin. Also by her sisters Madaline Corwin and Lucille Johnson; brothers William Johnson, Robert Johnson, Paul Johnson, and Louis Johnson; nephews Eddie & Wayne Corwin; nieces Pamela Johnson, and Judy Bittner. She is survived by her son Steve and daughter-in-law Susan of Buchtel, as well as lifelong friends Melvin and Phyllis Voll of Columbus, and Multiple nieces and nephews. Funeral service were held at 1:00pm Wednesday March 9, 2016 at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home in Nelsonville with Rev. Ernie Perkins officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery in Nelsonville.
